HARANO: WHAT WAS LOST

HARANO: WHAT WAS LOST - is an adventure game based on the lives of two people. The game is designed to be a parallel journey between Babur and Ananya; the former was The First Mughal Emperor of India while the latter is the daughter of a renowned archaeologist.

Overwhelmed by the death of her father, she is stricken by the desire to find her father’s killer. Her father’s obsession with the Mughal empire led her to find a set of clues that would lead her through Babur’s life and later to the real reason for her father's death. The game focuses on the father-daughter relationship and showcases her father as the central point for the connection between Babur and Ananya.

The game is a 3-D First Person Perspective, action-adventure game with a hint of 2-D quick time event game sequences to keep the player captivated.

my Roles

Game Designer

  • I was a part of creating a concept on the given topic Panipat.

  • Along with my fellow game designers, we did rigorous research and ideation, and brainstormed for a unique concept.

  • We settled with a mix of genres where the game would be a 3D- FPS with the main character being a girl and certain elements shifting into a 2D perspective.

Puzzle Designer

  • My major role was to create unique puzzles for the game.

  • The puzzles were supposed to be designed in the 3D house of the main character, hence I went with an approach that would be that the object is right in front of you, items that you see daily in the character's life but has a puzzle in it, for example, the study table, where if the player rearranges the items correctly, figure out the globe puzzle, the player will solve it.

Level Designer

  • Along with puzzle design, I also took the role of a level designer.

  • The concept set is based in a mansion where the main character lived with her late father.

  • I designed the layout of the house, its rooms, and puzzle areas.

  • I also designed the enemy patrolling paths and sneaking mode for the character.

Set Dressing

  • Another role/ task that I took in my hands was to build and fill the level.

  • After my team artist created the 3D layout on Maya and exported it on Unity, I took the task to fill and place items in the house to give it a more natural house look.

  • Pots, books, statues, chairs tables, etc, were just some of the items that I placed in the environment to give the player the real experience and also keep in mind of the ergonomy of the area and movement for the player.
